Marathon Background: Tetrimino Music: Korobeiniki Here we have the old-fashioned Marathon mode...or whatever it might be these days. I know that it's always been about playing for as long as you can, but I remember old A-Type (the game, not the music, which has tended to vary somewhat over the years, though Korobeiniki is the most famous of the A-Type musics over the years) was designed to be unlimited play and the B-Type (there were only originally two types of Tetris to play...and three songs, if you were lucky) had something like a fifty-line clear condition to it. I never remember Tetris being like this until Tetris DS, because once you get to about Level 10 or so, things get pretty intense. That said, I am merely a "casual" Tetris player of sorts...I play for fun and falling shapes, so I'm nothing much compared to the likes of player who gets a real kick out of Tetris: The Grand Master, but I do tend to do well enough for myself when I've got the time to think about stuff as it happens. I invite you to pay close attention to where my meticulous stack-building completely loses cohesion around Level 13 or so. It's really pretty funny...or sad, I suppose, if you take my feelings into consideration (but who the heck would bother with that?), but it's definitely not at all atypical for me when the speed starts picking up.
