THE DARK HALF (PC DOS) (1992) - Longplay [1080p] (uncommented)
THE DARK HALF is a point and click adventure game by Capstone released for PC MS-DOS in 1992. It is based on a Stephen King novel. This video is a full playthrough of the game showing the good ending. I don't think this game is as horrible as everyone claims it is but it certainly does have massive flaws. The tone and atmosphere are nice and the music is quite decent. However, most of the graphics are god-awful (except for some nicely done cut scenes) - the whole thing really reminds you of early 90's shareware games. The puzzles are super ridicilous and cryptic beyond all hell and the storytelling is very amateurish. I haven't read King's book but I can imagine that knowing the plot does benefit you tremendously when playing this. Emulation note: I recorded the game via DosBox. You might notice that it runs a bit faster than it did on original DOS machines back then. I reduced the DosBox cycles to an acceptable level so that the speed gets close to the original - but anything beyond would have made the animations really choppy.
