Alfred Tries To Play: Jaleco Rally Big Run: The Supreme 4WD Challenge (SNES)

Rally racing across the desert seems an interesting idea, but what do you do if you break down in the middle of the desert miles from civilization or a decent water supply? This Japan-only SNES game at least allows you to experience desert rally racing without the heat, heat-induced breakdowns or lack of water. But really, this game is a pretty poor example of a racing game on SNES. The fact that you have to manually shift to a higher gear to gain top speed and then shift down to the lower gear when you crash and have to get going again is an annoyance, but that's not even the game's biggest problem. The main problem is that technically, it's a mess. Cars and obstacles pop into view in unpredictable and jerky fashion, making the game hard to play. One of the poorer SNES racers.
