Total Immersion Racing Challenge 100% Speedrun in 10:05:53
This is a single segment speedrun of Total Immersion Racing Challenge Mode, trying to beat all challenges in order as quickly as possible. I played the game on PC. Obviously, I made a lot of mistakes over the course of 10 hours without breaks, so sub 10 hours is surely possible, even without finding any new strategies. Still, I am very happy with how the speedrun turned out. You may also consider this video as a longplay or a setup guide for Total Immersion Racing, even though that is not the primary purpose of the video. All strategies are explained here: Q&A: Q: How can you go so fast? A: I apply a custom setup to all cars as shown in the video. Most of the settings are the same for all cars. Only the ballast position, the front suspension and the transmission were individual for each car. This custom setup can save up to 11 seconds per lap compared to no setup depending on the car and track. Of course, I am happy to hear any suggestions for improvements I can make to these setups, so write a comment, if you know how to improve the setups. Q: Why did you not apply a setup for the Abt and the Noble during the video? A: I applied the setups for the Abt and Noble in time trial before I started the run. The setups then carried over to challenge mode. I could not do this for any other cars since they were not unlocked yet at the start of the run. Q: Why do you cut so many corners? A: Because the game does not penalise the player for doing so and this is a speedrun. Q: Why do you wait for opponents and ram them off the road sometimes? A: For some challenges it is possible to skip some races, but only if the AI opponents take points away from each other. Since the BMW in the GT class and the McLaren in the GTS class finish 1st most of the time I had to make sure they finish down the order, enabling me to skip as many races as possible. Q: Why did you choose the Quaife/Lister GTS even though the BMW GT/McLaren were already unlocked? A: The Quaife has more grip than the BMW and thus better cornering speed whilst having roughly the same top speed making it much better overall. The Lister and the McLaren are very equally matched. But since the McLaren can be rather oversteery at times, I find the Lister more consistent and thus slightly better overall. Q: Why did you choose the Panoz PRO in the "Intercontinental" challenge and not the Lister PRO? A: Because I want to skip the first race of the challenge and this is only possible, if I have two Lister AI opponent. Otherwise the only Lister opponent would finish 2nd every time since it is completely overpowered compared to the other prototype cars. Q: When doing the "Trans Atlantic" challenge why did you skip the Silverstone race, even though it is shorter than the Sebring race? A: Because in case of a tie the game always favours the driver who won the last race in challenge mode. Meaning if I won the first race and an AI opponent won the skipped second race with the fastest lap, I would lose the challenge and effectively kill the run, which is way to risky. Q: What happend to the last 3 challenges? A: When I tabbed out of the game for a moment in order to check if everything is alright with the timer, for some reason my recording software stopped recording any video footage, so I only have the audio footage left. Since the video did not feel complete to me without the video for the last 3 challenges I re recorded them and added them at the end of the video. Feel free to ask any other questions that are not answered here in the video discription or on the speedrun website I linked above. I will gladly answer them all.
