||| REVIEW BELOW ||| Deer Hunter VR ** $4.99 .Gamepad Not Required. Graphics - 8 Gameplay - 7 Immersion - 7 Comfort - 10 Value - 7 ********** Score 7.8 Verdict: 'Good fun but wait for a sale' Type: Sports/Shooter I use to love this game when it was called 'Big Buck Hunter' in the arcades (by play Mechanix, Inc), you had a shot gun and were presented with scenarios. When they ported this game across to android and called it 'Deer Hunter' by a different studio (Southlogic Studios, brought by Glu) I thought,"Oh nice" you can get that game in the palm of your hands, but you quickly learn it's not the same feel, and how could it be? going from a shotgun-esque weapon system to a touch screen is far from similar. When I saw they had ported it across to VR, I didn't actually think "oh cool" VR would make a lot more sense as it's environmental immersion, putting the player inside the locality, instead I just thought Oculus is yet again clutching at straws to find any game that they can put in the store as they really when it comes to have, have nothing good to present. Playing the game, it's half and half true. It's not bad and the good part about it is, you do have to have a sense of focus when deciding your point of aim, target acquisition and the occasional immediate threat as a predator animal come lunging at you but VR optimal use, it does not have. Yes there is an environment behind me, but there is never anything behind me to worry about, it's just a blank canvas covered in flora and fauna to try and tell me I'm in the woods, not a bad job but it's not making the most of it. The immersion is too is nullified when the animals run past you and into that rear void, which unfortunately in this video is painted rocks, real animals can't walk through solid objects so that is a reminder this is a game and VR is killed off along with the deer. What I don't like about this game is having to spend time in it to earn enough gold and cash to buy stuff I really want to use. Nothing erks me more about games than having to buy a game that makes me buy stuff with fake money that I have to earn. This game in that instance begs you to dedicate your time to it to unlock these features and meanwhile your phone just heats up and that journey is usually cut short. It's not a bad game, it's kinda fun, but the lack of tactile feeling of a gun is lame, because I'm not cyclops, touching the side of my visor to focus and shoot is counter intuitive, you will forget a bout it but, that's the fun of holding a rifle, aiming it and shooting it. This is lame for VR but it has SOME merits. For no more than $2.99 It's worth the purchase but at $4.99 though it's not much, I wouldn't get it, wait for the sale.
