Knockout League Grudge Speedrun in 11:54

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN KNOCKOUT LEAGUE SPEEDRUNNING, OR JUST PLAYING IT A LOT, PLEASE READ THE LAST PARAGRAPH! This is a full circuit speedrun of Knockout League's Grudge circuit. It could probably be improved upon, but the fact I set two new ILs at the time and tied a third gives me the suspicion this run's luck is going to outlast a lot of execution of future runs. The run is mostly a collection of all of the IL (Individual Level) fights / strategies I have on this channel, but all in a row. The total time of 11:54 is the sum of all of the in-game times of each fight. Tritip's fight should have ended without incident, but his combos in the last phase are annoying to dodge unless you go way to the side. He sort of follows you as you move before he punches, so if you dodge early, you end up having to dodge even more. I got hit because of this but the time wasn't horrible. Barrage shows how the blocking can be messed up if you go too fast and too aggressive. If you over shoot your hands and they end up past each other, you can drop blocking, which happened here. The rest of the fight was alright though. Volt had a hit right at the end of the fight, but he had little enough health that I could still knock him out with the truncated counter you get after a hit. Scurvy was the closest fight ever. I barely got In the Zone in phase 1 to parry his headbutt, and again only just got him down on phase 2. Octopunch was a new IL PB, and this is still the best I've ever done on him. You'll notice the IL fight for him on this channel comes from this run. And then there's Maiden... On my IL video, I explain how it used to be the worst fight in the game, but the new strategy completely fixes that. This run demonstrates why she was the worst. The ABSOLUTE WORST. This train wreck features 8 "dungs" and TWO rips, while also getting hit. The ending was also lucky, because her charge has a real problem accepting my punches when her face is open, but somehow I hit her twice and finished the fight. This fight is unfortunate since the new strategy makes sub 2 minutes possible most of the time, but the rest of the run was great after this. Showtime was tied for my PB, and came close to the theoretically perfect fight where you have both In the Zone and knock him down in three counters in phase 1. Finally, Magician also was an IL PB when I did this run, though I've since beaten it. Phases 1 and 2 both ended with pick a card, which is shitty but expected, and I executed the hell out of the phase 2 pick a card. Then phase 3 came and delivered god luck and I capitalized, getting a two counter knockdown. In the end I celebrated too much and opened the VR menu, heh. In the end, I don't like this run, but I'm not so interested in grinding it down further right now. I attempted it a couple more times with the condition that all 6 of the first fights must go great, with no hits to me. I couldn't avoid hits though, so I'm putting it down for now. I want to now bring up something important about the precedent of speedruns in this game. This game should NEVER use real time as a metric for competition EVER! Take breaks WHENEVER YOU NEED! Just leave your run on, don't cut the video. The audio from the game will make it clear you didn't segment / splice the run. I say this so no one will think you must beat the game as fast as possible in real time, disregarding your own health.
