NBA Jam Extreme Longplay (Sega Saturn Version) - Difficulty: 5 Stars (Hardest)

NBA Jam Extreme Longplay (Sega Saturn Version) - Difficulty: 5 Stars (Hardest) - NBA Jam Extreme, released for the Sega Saturn in 1996, expanded the high-octane, arcade-style NBA Jam series with a foray into 3D graphics, deviating from the series' traditional 2D visuals. It also introduced an Extreme button, adding a supercharged twist to the classic Turbo gameplay. Despite such innovations, the Saturn version lands at the top of my list of basketball gaming letdowns, primarily due to several glaring issues. The rotating camera is a particular source of annoyance; meant to enhance the game, it instead causes disorientation, disrupting gameplay and often giving your opponents easy scoring opportunities because you can't defend or position yourself properly. The imprecise and unresponsive controls add to the frustration. Steering your player on the court is laborious, with the inaccuracy leading to unintended collisions or blocked shots. Button responsiveness is another test of patience, where coaxing your teammate into action becomes an exercise in futility. The AI, less than ideal in previous "NBA Jam" titles, seems to regress even further in Extreme, leading to poor in-game decisions. To sum it up, the shortcomings of NBA Jam Extreme are disheartening, feeling like a regression for a beloved series. It seemed to miss the essence of what made the earlier titles so engaging, resulting in a game that, in my view, fell short and inadvertently marred the series' storied reputation. #retrogamingloft #nbajamextremelongplay #nbajamextremesaturn
