The game was developed by Chunsoft and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. It is the fifth entry in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. The game was first announced in CoroCoro, which released the first details in January 2009. It was officially released in Japan on April 18, 2009 and in North America on October 12, 2009.
