Nerf Arena Blast - Gameplay

Nerf Arena Blast is a First Person Shooter game. It was made by Visionary Media (now defunct) and was published by Atari in 1999. This game uses the Unreal Engine 1. Well yeah this is basically UnrealTournament with Nerf weapons. The "kid friendly" version of Unreal ^^ Although it may look like a game for kids this needs pretty much the same skill you would need when playing UT especially because there are very few hitscan weapons. Even the bots can be very skilled and if they have the sniper gun you better keep you head down. Nerf Arena is fun for some time but the problem is that it lacks a few more gamemodes, although the ones that are implemented are something different from what you know from UT already (well except for PointBlast) PointBlast - This is basically deathmatch but instead of single frags you gain points. And if someone gets fragged he leaves a score pickup which can be picked up by anyone who is lucky enough to get there first. The higher the rank of the player who got fragged the higher the points in the pickup he will leave behind (Rank 1=1000 points). You can also get points by just shooting some special targets that are scattered around the map. Look out for them on walls, ceilings or wherever they might be. BallBlast - Well this one is interesting, it plays like PointBlast at first but getting points out of frags is not enough. You have to find 6 balls that are spawned randomly in the map and each ball gives you a different amount of points. If you found all balls and shot them into the goal then the golden ball number 7 will spawn and if you shoot that into the goal the match will end. But you need to watch your score, if you have low score and you or someone else will end the match you pretty much screwed up. SpeedBlast - This gamemode is about touching colored flags in order (1-7) and being the first to do so. It sound pretty boring at first and playing it with bots probably doesn't bring out its full potential. The catch in this mode is that the maps are full of traps you can use against other players (or they use them against you) to slow players down or confuse them. This is is also the shortest gamemode that usually only lasts for 2 minutes or something but you really have to learn the maps or you will find yourself running around in circles. Most of the maps are designed pretty well and pretty much all of them have little secret areas hidden somewhere where you could get superhealth, armor or double damage. Also the maps are rich in variety (Asteroids, Underwater areas, Skyscraper Arena, Moonbase, Nature type areas and so on). This game also has a multiplayer ofcourse, but the last time I checked the bots are not working there which is pretty sad because if you want to play over LAN with a friend it would be better if there are some bots too.
