Источник - Yamaha MT-01 — очень, очень своеобразный мотоцикл, эдакий гибрид, который хоть и относится к классу стритфайтеров, но имеет массу нетипичных для городского мотоцикла черт. Эта экспериментальная модель впервые поступила в продажу в 2005 году и буквально поразила многих байкеров. Не каждый год публике показывают городской мотоцикл с чудовищно мощным мотором от круизера. Да-да, основная отличительная черта Yamaha MT-01 — двигатель, позаимствованный у Yamaha XV1700 Warrior, пауэр-круизера, весьма популярного во многих странах мира. В дальнейшем конструкция мотора для MT-01 была переделана с целью облегчить его, но основа осталась та же. Впрочем, двигатель так и остался самой тяжёлой частью мотоцикла. А вот раму сделали новую, легкосплавную, хотя первый прототип Yamaha MT-01 предполагал собой использование мотора от Warrior и рамы от Yamaha FJR 1300. Этот 1,7-литровый V-твин воздушного охлаждения работает с инжектором и 5-ступенчатой КПП. Так как у этого мотора круизерные корни, он обладает соответствующим характером — не очень высокая максимальная мощность вкупе с адской тягой в нижнем диапазоне оборотов. Шутка ли — при максимальной мощности в 80 л.с. Yamaha MT-01 развивает крутящий момент в 150 нМ, что сравнимо со знаменитой Suzuki Hayabusa, только вот MT-01 достигает пикового значения крутящего момента уже на трёх с половиной тысячах оборотов. Благодаря тому, что самая тяжёлая часть мотоцикла, двигатель, расположена очень низко от земли, два с половиной центнера веса не очень чувствуются, байк кажется дружелюбным и достаточно лёгким. Правда, после первой же поездки это впечатление куда-то девается — мотор от Warrior, поставленный в заметно более лёгкий мотоцикл, превращает Yamaha MT-01 в рычащую ракету, способную пулей сорваться с места и в считанные секунды исчезнуть где-то далеко вдали. Разгон с 0 до 100 км/ч занимает у MT-01 чуть более трёх секунд, а максимальная скорость составляет порядка 220 километров в час.
