Dragon Throne Battle of Red Cliffs EP32: Skirmish

Dragon Throne Battle of Red Cliffs EP32: Skirmish Skirmish map and the final episode to this series. What an experience! This series ran for 6 months including research! That a research of over 25,000 words containing step-by-step experience of the campaign mission too. (I don't really follow my write-ups because the happenings games are very dynamic. The write-ups serve to help me remember the missions better, and thus play slightly better for the recordings.) So much time was spent on piecing together the battle maps, and the custom-made information on the featurette videos. I had to screenshot all the icons/images from the actual gameplay, and then crop them for use. On top of that, I also had to record new footages for use each of the topics. (I did not re-use any footages from the campaigns for these featurettes. Maybe I should have?) The most fun/satisfying part of the featurette videos was creating recorded scenarios, where units enter and leave the scene while mouse cursor movements are not captured, making it feel like a cutscene. It was very challenging to create, and the ability to pause the game using the spacebar key really helped greatly. Anyway, the campaign was alright. Since all units and tech were available early into the campaign, there wasn't much to look forward to other than the occasional story-related dialogues. Battles were mostly became a mess and wasn't something to rave about. Then again, weren't battles always a mess anyway? 😅The little tidbits of historical information sprinkled all over the game experience was really nice to have, and helped add flavor to the game, and several really life-life portraits of iconic heroes from the Three KIngdoms era helped make the game a little more realistic.
