Aliens: The Computer Game (also known as Aliens US Version in Europe) was developed by Activision (US version) and Software Studios/Electric Dreams (UK version), released in 1986 for the Commodore 64 The game unfolds across six mini‑missions ranging from piloting the Sulaco dropship, navigating air‑duct mazes, to fighting the Alien Queen. Gameplay switches between joystick action sequences and tactical team management in the Mobile Tactical Operations Bay (MTOB). You can switch between marines, manage stamina, retrieve ammo and avoid acid pools in a maze of 255 rooms Notable for its early use of digitised cutscenes, atmospheric tension and faithful film tie‑in design, the UK/Electric Dreams version earned praise for capturing the dread and mood of the movie on 8‑bit hardware. It stood out among licensed titles for delivering a challenging, immersive experience with minimal bells and whistles. Considered one of the most atmospheric and inventive Commodore 64 tie‑in games ever made, Aliens: The Computer Game remains a nostalgic favourite among retro gaming fans for its blend of action and strategy inside an unforgiving alien hive.
