Developed and published by Sega in 1990 It's been a while since a game genuinely impressed me, and Bonanza Bros. turned out to be quite the hidden gem. I'd seen console and computer ports of it back in the day, but had never actually played it myself. The game reminds me of Mappy, albeit with far better graphics and more variety. The stealth-lite gameplay is really quite innovative for the time, and the graphics still look beautiful, even by today's standards. Even more impressive is the fact friends can play together in split-screen coop, which only adds to the fun. The game uses a rather curious base resolution of 496 x 384 (no doubt required to accommodate separate play areas for both players). I experimented with 400% (1440p) and 800% (4K+) upscales, and the 800% produced sharper-looking streams (inc. 4K and 5K options), so this the option I went with. #sega #bonanzabros #retrogaming
