It was released in 1998 for the Windows PC and PlayStation 1. TOCA 2 is a racing game for the 1998 British Touring Car Championship. At the time, the BTCC was among the top motorsport series in the world featuring factory teams from eight manufacturers and a number of independent entries. The championship was contested across 26 races over 13 weekends at eight different British racing circuits. TOCA 2 is the second game in the TOCA series that became the Race Driver and then GRID series by Codemasters. The series varies between simulation and arcade racing depending on the game. As the series progressed, its focus grew beyond BTCC to include cars and tracks from other championships, including Formula 1, IndyCar, Le Mans Prototype & GT, V8 Supercars, DTM and more.
