Jack Nicklaus Golf (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Tradewest's 1992 golf game for the Nintendo Game Boy, Jack Nicklaus Golf. Played a stroke game on the "Jack's Greatest" course (which you probably are familiar with if you've played the NES version - it is the same collection of holes here). I like golf games quite a bit. I've always found them pretty relaxing. The Jack Nicklaus series (my favorites series for golf games - sorry Links fans, I prefer these!) has always been good at striking a balance between realism and fun, with some fairly fast play that glosses over some of the more particular aspects that more traditional simulators do. About the only thing you really need to do is pick the right club, aim in accordance with the wind, terrain, and distance, and do the classic three-click swing meter. It takes some time to really feel the flow behind it, but when you do, the game becomes quite addictive. Though the course I'm playing on here is the same as the one featured in the NES version, this game plays much more similarly to the SNES game that was released around the same time. It lacks the big digitzed golfers and (obviously) the full color courses, but hey, at least it's still green! Oddly enough, the redraw times seem to be speedier in this version than either the SNES or NES versions. While I never found their loading moments particularly troublesome, the change is welcome. This one plays at a fairly faster pace because of it. In my personal opinion, this is by far the best golf game on the Game Boy, and was only knocked off of that perch when Mario Golf came out nine years later on the Game Boy Color. Not a bad run by any means! ______ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. NintendoComplete (
