Blaze And Blade: Eternal Quest (1998, PS1/PSX Gameplay 2020)
Blade and Blade: Eternal Quest is an Action-Rpg released in 1998 for the PS1/PSX. It was developed by T&E Soft, Conspiracy Entertainment and published by T&E Soft, THQ. The game was also released for Windows, in all accounts it is the superior version to play also. So, testing out the PS1/PSX version was, well.. slow going at first, creating your team was great, and the resetting of stat cards to benefit you more to gain more stat points is a welcomed addition to making your characters better at the start of the game. It costs quite a lot of memory space on your memory cards to create 4 characters, I am guessing though you can later just use one space for saving your progress. The game can be played also by 1 to 4 real players if you wish which is a really great touch if you want to play with friends but that is where the fun ends. Graphically, the game looks awful now, it really has not aged well at all. Skills look boring and the sound effects are the most basic i've heard on any later PS1/PSX game. The music, or what of it there is, is pretty bad, it sounds nearly all the same to me, which means it's going to get old real fast. One good thing about this game is it is so open world you travel super far just to get to the first dungeon, finding some woodsman is the plan, I found his hut but reach my hour play and wasn't enjoying the game so decided to stop recording at that point, it was just too boring and slow for me. Maybe it might be better if I was playing with family or friends? I dunno. Would I recommend this game now? i'm on the fence with this one, on one hand I really didn't play far and didn't play with other people so it could be more fun but then on the other hand its slow going, boring, hasn't aged well, music is boring, spells and skills look crap.. I dunno.. I think I might be leaning more towards no but then it could be different in team play. Have you played this game? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below.
