Similar to Batman and Assasin's Creed games, players can use parkour to climb most anything in the open-world gamescape providing a wide variety of approaches. Players level up using a RPG style XP system as well as an additional Power point system, both of which help to gradually unlock a wide array of special abilities that, once mastered, can create some spectacular gameplay. With 74 missions (20 story missions and 54 side missions) and a ton of collectibles and challenges, this game could easily take about 50 hours to complete. Shadow of Mordor also features an unusual enemy leveling system where boss enemies known as 'Captains' and 'Warchiefs' engage in randomly generated challenges and can level up according to the outcome of those challenges. The player has a direct hand in determining the outcome of those challenges adding a level of complexity and immersion as well as a ton of replay value.
