Jackie Chan Adventures: Legend of the Dark Hand Longplay (Game Boy Advance) [4K]

Developed by Torus Games and published by Activision in 2001 Follow me on Twitter @   / al82_retro   One of the reasons I love the Game Boy Advance is because, in a world where PS2 and Xbox were pushing game development into the future, Nintendo's handheld felt like a continuation of my gaming childhood. Although the games might have looked of the 16-bit generation, the production values had definitely improved, and even for a relatively early title in the GBA catalogue, Jackie Chan Adventures is pretty impressive. Based on the animated cartoon show, this side-scrolling brawler features cell-shaded art style to give the proceedings a comic book feel, and features some excellent animation. Despite the tiny screen resolution, the game looks great. Gameplay is pretty old-school fighting stuff, with Chan engaged on a round-the-world mission to recover a bunch of mystical Kung Fu scrolls from the clutches of a nefarious group of gangsters. Collecting scrolls grants Chan the ability to execute new fighting moves with which to defeat his opponents, and you'll feel like genuine martial arts master by the game's end. Overall, I enjoyed Jackie Change Adventures. I don't think it's in the same league as Double Dragon Advance, but it's a solid fighting game that controls well, and if you get to grips with the over-telegraphed fighting moves, there's definitely fun to be had here. #jackiechan #gameboyadvance #retrogaming
