Їх особливістю, порівняно зі звичайними бронежилетами (плитоносками), є більша площа покриття тіла, завдяки чому значно підвищується ступінь захищеності від уламків. В сучасних умовах війни саме уламки є причиною поранень приблизно у 85-90% випадків, тому ПЛАСТУН є важливим та популярним серед військових засобом захисту. Нагадуємо, що кошти, які збирає мистецький проєкт ArtArmor завдяки перетворенню "відстріляних" бронеплит на артоб'єкти, будуть спрямовані, зокрема, на закупівлю нових засобів захисту, які рятуватимуть життя захисникам і захисницям України.
