Sports Talk Baseball (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega's 1992 baseball game for the Sega Genesis, Sports Talk Baseball. Played an exhibition game as the Atlanta Braves against the Seattle Mariners. Following hot on the heels of their huge success with Joe Montana II: Sports Talk Football, Sega's Sports Talk Baseball further capitalized on the then-super impressive use of play-by-play commentary (recorded by Lon Simmons) from a cartridge. Granted, the comments could sometimes fall behind the action, and many of the statements didn't flow together totally smoothly, but it was usually fairly accurate, and it thankfully sidestepped the issues where he'd say "I don't believe it!" every five seconds. It's much less repetitive this time. Sports Talk Baseball is a perfectly good 16-bit baseball game. Its license from the MLBPA gives you control of real-life players from the 1991 season, however, without an MLB license it lacks the official team names. The game has got its quirks, but it makes for a fast, fun game that doesn't really require too much skill get into. Granted, for as an iconic game as it was back in the day, like most sports games it doesn't really hold up terribly well to the modern representations of the sport. But, if you're interested in the game, I imagine that this probably doesn't matter at all to you. Give it a go, if for nothing else to experience what "impressive" meant for the Sega Genesis in 1992. There was a time when this was the game to play, and this video is my tribute to its awesomeness :) ____ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. NintendoComplete (
