Etrian Odyssey Nexus - vs Abyssal Princess (Night) (Heroic)
So, the night time version of Abyssal Princess. It's not quite as random as EO2's Ur-Child, but it is far more random than the daytime version of itself. That being said, we can still lock the pattern into Undead Regen... with a caveat. We still have to deal with Gothic Souls and potential Unholy Light. Gothic Souls on their own don't really do anything, but we have the party-wide move Condemnation that can trigger if all 4 souls are present and live until the end of turn. This move happens at the end of turn. Also, when you defeat Abyssal Princess.... well, if those souls are alive, she will revive with HP regenerated depending on how many were alive. And this breaks the Undead Regen lock. With those in mind, here are the reasons behind the characters. Note that most of these characters are in form of QR from Expert NG+ I did just to make some QR for myself. Aikoto (Highlander/Ronin): Mainly made this for spamming attack skills. With HP adjustment to start, Spear Reversal will do more damage. I didn't really want to bother with that though, and Allied Bond supplying TP is actually fairly important in fueling Hero/Ninja with TP penalty when doubling up. AoE break (Gae Bolg) is saved until the end so that I can wipe the souls. Hibiki (Hero/Ninja): I mainly enlisted Hibiki in the guild for the solo stuff, but here I wanted another another unit to deal the damage when I get Unholy Light. 5 units dealing the damage with a single round of Massacre Wave is enough to continue the Undead Regen lock. Afterimage things are wasted but oh well. Serena (Gunner/Landsknecht): I could replace one with a different Gunner but G/L with Single Devotion is simple 10% damage boost regardless. Given the speed, I won't be benefiting from Initiative and I guess I only need one Proficiency (L) but yeah. I enlist two Gunners because I basically need two turns of safety given that I need 1 turn to Bunshin. One could be replaced by the likes of Shogun and use the break on Turn 1 (and can supply either buffs, Commands, etc) but then Penetrator helps with Gothic Soul removal without extra effort. Once I have buffs up, I can even divert one of them to target directly and not roll the 2/3 dice. Reina (Harbinger/Highlander): Massacre Wave, Bloody Offense, Eroding Miasma. However, the most important bit here is Miasma Tsunami, which forcibly lowers the enemy action speed including Undead Regen. I use this towards the end so that I can make sure to get the kill when I use Gae Bolg. Quite a few variations work but I felt that this was one of more stable ones. The only fail point I see is maybe having all 4 souls on the field + Unholy Light hitting at the same time, but that doesn't seem likely given that summoning Gothic Soul and Unholy Light apparently conflicts with each other (see Turn 6). In fact, that and the Undead Regen prep message may all be fighting for the end of turn action and this is why we are getting Unholy Light (RegalStar suggested that as a potential possibility, though this is all conjectures). If only one of 3 can happen, it's basically not possible to see such situation. If you had 4 souls out and faced the end of turn, you would have been hit by Condemnation and probably got a game over. If you don't have 4 souls, you can just hit the main body as usual and then deal with 4 soul situation the turn after.
