ATRIAS 2.0 - Crouched Jump (Weighted)

The robot performs a standing jump with weight added to simulate the full biped weight. This weight is accomplished by a broken dumbbell, note the 155 lb "Iron Grip" on the robot. This weight weighs 55lbs (25 kg) bringing total robot weight to 125 lbs (58.6 kg), 10 lbs (4.5 kg) more than with a second leg. The robot hops 4.5" (10.125 cm) off the ground. This tells us that the robot is strong enough to run in its biped configuration. ATRIAS 2.0 is a monopod prototype for a human scale 3D biped robot. ATRIAS is designed and constructed at Oregon State University and is sponsored by DARPA. To find out more about ATRIAS please visit our website at the link below.
