Aces of the Deep • Dynamix 1994

Aces of the Pacific was developed by Dynamix and published by Sierra in 1994. This game helped to define the sub sim genre for years to come. I know there was Silent Service 1 and 2 before, but this game was on another level. You can see its influence in another genre defining classic released 11 years later - Silent Hunter 3. This game had a re-realeased enhanced version for Windows 95 called Command: Aces of the Deep. One of the most interesting features added to it was voice recognition! Yes, you could plug in the mic to your sound card and give orders to your sailors verbally. For this showcase vid I dug up my old saves from 10 years ago when I last played this game. We will be going on a patrol engaging allied shipping in early part of the war. I will not be including entire patrol since this could take several hours to complete. But there still be some action I guarantee. 0:00 Intro 1:15 Vehicle preview 5:57 Lets continue the career 6:24 Tonnage leaders 6:32 Nightclub 7:04 War patrol 7:18 Leaving port 8:09 Plotting course 12:13 Ship sighted 16:47 Torpedo away 18:25 Target destroyed with 2nd torp 23:32 Radio message about nearby convoy 24:24 Looks like we found another convoy 27:40 That escort ship is getting too close 35:20 I think we can't wait for the night 38:50 Attacking most juicy target - troop transport 39:36 Now it's time to vanish 42:35 Sound man confirms the sinking of that troop ship 45:11 I think we're in the clear, surfacing
