Risk: The Game Of World Conquest PSX - Hard - European Campaign

I've never played Risk before, and thought I'd give it a quick go, although I've played the World Domination Mode in Kane's Wrath, which is only slightly similar (most of the action I tend to sort out RTS style). I pick hard difficulty, custom select points and the 'European Campaign' if you will. Time to pick territories. I'm English, so I start by claiming the British Isles and the north western portion of Europe - Greenland, Sweden, some of France & Spain. The rest is scattered throughout Central Europe (although unimportant to me). Red slaps them self largely in the middle, which leads him to be attacked from both sides. Green takes the east/south east portion of the map, and is evidently going to be my major opponent. After the territories are divided up it's time to place your troops. Attacking can only be done to adjacent territories, and troops cannot be moved other than through deployment, or the end stage of a turn where you can fortify a position by transferring troops from one territory, to one adjacent territory. Bearing this in mind, central territories tend not to need troops, so deploying troops where you intend to attack from, or where you believe you need to defend/hold is generally good. My attack plan was roughly anti clockwise, to head to the south west, to the east, north east and back round. Kind of. I decide to leave green for now, so just keep the exposed north with a decent blockade of troops. The combat is all decided by dice rolls, it's the highest number that counts, not the sum. A tie will always result in the defender winning. One troop/army is knocked out for every winning scenario, and an attacker will lose one for every tie/loss in the roll. You can never attack with just one unit, as when you defeat an opponent, you need to transfer at least one (although you can transfer as many as you like) to the newly claimed territory. Cards are another factor of the game. I'm not sure entirely how they work, but I think as you capture certain territories, or hold countries/continents for so many turns, you receive them. When you have three, you can trade them in for bonus reinforcements at the start of the deployment phase. There's nothing else to mention I think, other than the obvious. Red gets defeated first, and I knock out Green in the end conquering the whole of Europe, in a Red Alert esque way.
