A playthrough of the second/ 2nd form of the final boss Goldibus in Capcom's Tech Romancer. Goldibus' moves: Triple sword slash: A, A, A Delayed projectiles: b, f + A Teleport: qcf or qcb + B Teleport and slash: qcf or qcb + B, then press J after the teleportation begins, and the A button after he reappears. Sword throw: A + B Draw in: A + J Push away: B + J Dodge and slash: A + D Dodge and ground wave: B + D Ground wave: f, b + A + B Super move: Phoenix transformation: b, f + B I put off starting this game for a couple of days because, as you can see, the move list for bosses in this game is rather extensive, as are its mechanics. What's more, four of the five bosses are not available legitimately on any platform, meaning that I have no move lists to draw on, and have to write my own. For five wholly different bosses. That's the price to pay for quality, I suppose. Goldibus is the final boss of the game, the typical evil two-form robot which the protagonists must defeat. His first form is a more regal, plain looking version, while his second form becomes more nightmarish and evil in its design, gains increased power as well as a super move. He has no final attack however. Goldibus is fought in two forms, but unlike Rugal of KOF 94 they are not fought as a team, and are instead two entirely different character values. What's more, Goldibus' second form can only be played as in Story mode, whereas all other bosses can only be played as in Hero Challenge mode. I have no clue why either, but it causes this video to be around half the length of the rest. So design-wise Goldibus is pretty great, an archetypical demonic enemy. His sword has fantastic reach and is the best initial weapon in the game. In my first recording of this, I played through it simply by using his triple slash combo with his sword. I wasn't satisfied with that playthrough however, so I re-recorded it to include more of his special moves, and his super move. His ground-wave attack is nice, but his most useful special move is his delayed projectiles. This sends the enemy flying up in the up and deals good damage to them. What's more, with it being delayed it can be executed, if timed correctly, after an opponent is down, so it hits them as soon as they recover. Very cheap, but this is a boss playthrough after all. His teleportation wasn't that useful, though his dodging skills are vital to defeating opponent. Apart from being able to throw his sword to stun an opponent, which is very cheap, Goldibus is a very close-ranged fighter, making him very suspectible to damage from long-ranged fighters and especially other bosses. This can cause some trouble, as he can be swamped by opponents' attacks. Several times I have to simply block until I see an opponent, and then utilise a triple slash combo, or unleash a super. He's actually quite weak for a final boss, getting defeated quite easily, but he is fought in two consecutive fights so that explains that. His super move in this form really is his saving grace, as he transforms into a phoenix, circles around the arena and crashes into the opponent, dealing consecutive and large amounts of damage to them. It's vital to him getting through the game, as it is so reliable and makes him temporarily invulnerable. All in all, I really like Goldibus as a boss, especially in his second form. Great design, great moves, powerful without being too difficult; Capcom really brought their best to this game. I'd heard about it before starting this series, but I never quite kinew how good it was, and now it's one of my favourite Capcom games simply on game mechanics and character variety alone. Goldibus is a good character, and certainly worth a play.
