Hellcats VS Zeros - gameplay - no commentary

Game in early access but already very complete (presented version: 0.9.2.0093), available on the Oculus Store for 10 €/$) Excellent flight simulator, bringing back incredible memories of "Hellcats Over The Pacific" (old Macintosh game from 1991, one of my very first favorite games). The game offers a very fine flight model, the "minimalist" graphics are very pleasant and offer an excellent readability (after this first flight I activated an option that makes the water prettier but especially that gives it a detailed surface, it gives a reference to better estimate its altitude), The control of the aircraft is done a lot by interaction (you grab the stick and the throttle and there are several activatable switches in the cockpit) but basic and useful functions are put on some buttons (extend/retract flap and landing gear, drop bomb/rocket, open/close cockpit, wheel brake), so you really have an excellent feeling in flight and despite the simulation aspect you are never too lost. The game offers 2 campaigns (one at the command of a Hellcat and the other at the command of a Zero), which are in fact a series of missions that you can perform in the disorder, but they go crescendo in difficulty so I can only recommend to get your hands on the first ones first. The sensations are great, the piloting is very pleasant, we are well above "Ultrawings" in terms of flight physics and difficulty, so it is better to be prepared. As you can see in the video it is quite hard to shoot down the opponent's aircraft, I am not an excellent pilot but the dispersion of the shells and the "little" damage of the machine guns make the fights a bit long (I thought I observed that it took a good 15 shots to shoot down a Zero, knowing that at best by aligning myself well I manage to place between 3 and 6, it requires me to repeat several times), however I think that with training I will end up better mastering my device and ballistics hoping to be able to hit with longer bursts and hope to shoot without too much spinning for hours. After the aircraft we fly is also extremely resistant (I took dozens and dozens of hits before I started to see a little smoke worrying me). In short, it's not really a problem, it's just balancing (and certainly a lack of skill on my part ^_^). For a title in early access HvZ offers a generous content and especially an excellent gameplay, the sensations and graphics are top and I spent from my first game more than 3 hours ultra intense (this video is only my very first flight, then I went on the campaigns). If 30 years ago someone had told me that one day I would play a spiritual sequel to "Hellcats Over The Pacific" in virtual reality... I would have asked to be cryogenically frozen for 30 years, so I'm delighted. If you like WWII (pacific) plane simulators and VR, go for it, the game is cheap and works great, it requires some mastery to avoid the fights being a bit too long but I can't wait to play it again.
