In this episode of Let's Play Boot Hill Bounties; we talk about the game mechanics, the choice of game, and how awesome Dave Welch is for sending me a key! Boot Hill Bounties is the spaghetti western inspired JRPG developed by Dave Welch over at Experimental Gamer. The Earthbound inspired JRPG was released in 2017 and is the second title in a planned series of western JRPGs. Following the events of Boot Hill Heroes, our adventure continues. The Boot Hill Posse has reassembled itself under new leadership and is deadset on capturing the rest of the Saints-Little gang! Will Doc, Moon, and Rosie have what it takes to complete their mission or will they end up as vulture food? Boot Hill Bounties is a JRPG with mechanics very similar to Earthbound. The battle system has the player equip vantages that act as abilities. Each character can equip four vantages all with different advantages (ha!). Furthermore, Boot Hill Bounties has many hats! Each hat allows you to learn new vantages, similar to abilities learned from equipment in Final Fantasy 9. The battle system is strategic by allowing you to buff and debuff your targets. If they dodge, try to stagger them. If they have lots of debuffs, try and use a vantage that is more effective with more debuffs. See that your enemy is using a strong attack, make sure to apply dodge! Boot Hill Bounties shakes up the basics of RPG combat with a more interactive Active Turn Base system.
