Let's Play This Means War! #1 | Operation Mary Jane: Central America
And so it begins. This Means War! is a 1995 real-time strategy game developed by Starjammer Studios and published by Mircoprose for Windows 3.x. It is Starjammer Studios, though its staff worked on other games as well. The game is in a post-apocalyptic future where a virus delivered via a game called 'Snark Hunter'. After an initial period of chaos, new leaders emerged and restored order. In This Means War!, the player takes the role of Hotshot, a commander for the Free World Alliance set out to liberate the globe from a Crocodile Dundee knock-off, a new Genghis Khan, a sheik, and other stereotypes. The games features standard real-time strategy gameplay consistent of base building, resource gathering, and army management. However, the game's controls are subpar, primarily due the its overuse of menus. Other flaws include poor pacing due to limited resources on maps, uncreative map design, units that primarily replace other units, and a reliance on finishing missions with rush tactics.
