Тракийски Университет Стара Загора доказа за поредна година, че има най-добрите студенти в България. От 2009 година до този сезон в проекта на Националното представителство на студентските съвети са участвали над 2210 студенти от България и Балканите. Проведени са състезания в няколко дисциплини, а също така е изнесена лекция за спорта във висшите училища. Зимният университет е наследник на Националните зимни студентски игри, които за първи път се организират през 2009 година, а по-късно под името „Зимен Университет”. В първото изднаие на проекта участват 110 студенти от висшите училища в страната. През 2010 година проекта прераства в масово спорно мероприятие, под името Национални студентски зимни игри, в което се състезават над 215 студенти от Висшите училища в България. С приключването на Зимните игри през 2010, организационният комитет си постави следващата цел – организиране на балкански зимен спортен фестивал, а именно Балканиада, чиято цел е да се включат студенти от балканските държави Сърбия, Македония, Босна и Херциговина, Гърция и Турция. УНИВЕРСИТЕТСКИТЕ ЗИМНИ ИГРИ И ЗИМЕН УНИВЕРСИТЕТ '2019 се проведoха в курортен комплекс "Боровец" от 17 до 21 март 2019 г. и са организирани от Национално представителство на студентските съвети (НПСС) и Асоциация за университетски спорт „Академик” (АУСА).
