Full longplay / playthrough / walkthrough / trueplay of this SNES collection of four different revisions of the original 1978 Taito arcade game Space Invaders. Including gameplay from the original black and white arcade game and the later colour versions, but not the updated revision for the colour version which had five score digits. In truth this is in fact a port of the arcade release of Space Invaders DX from 1993/1994 at least we think it's a port as the arcade release date isn't clearly recorded, however it is missing the parody mode which was in the arcade version and it's a pity as it's a major lost to the game. As it included cameos from the cast of various Taito arcade games across nine waves. One of the most important games in history with many crediting it for the modern arcade gameplay format. The game saw you battle endless waves of invaders, to rank up as high a score as possible, even if it did only track four digits on the score board in the original revisions. Clear one wave and the next would spawn closer to you making it harder to take down. As you took out each invader the group would move faster and faster. There was also the bonus UFO that would award a special score bonus based on the number of shots you have fired in the game so far. Hitting it with the right shot means the difference between getting 50 or 300 points from each UFO. This is a phenomenal arcade collection for fans of the series and while this is a game both the NES and Master System could do in their sleep. There's still something very special about blasting back wave after wave of space invaders. The all new two player versus mode is excellent, but it's a real downer that the parody mode wasn't included from the arcade version. The home releases of Taito Legend 2 and Taito Memories are some of the few emulated collections that include the arcade version. The Game Boy version was available on the western Game Boy cartridge when played on a Super Game Boy. There are about three different versions of the game on PS1, the later releases of Space Invaders 2000 and Simple 1500 Series Vol. 73 included additional content not seen in other versions. None of the home version seem to included the parody mode, based on the information we found on them. Which is very little on the Japanese PS1 releases.
