Great Naval Battles IV: The Battle of North Cape 1943 pt1, a small deviation from the history
Great Naval Battles 4, would return the series to Europe, but also including the mediterranean theatre and the fleets of more combatant nations such as Italy and Russia. Its operates at a larger operational scale to Great Naval Battles 1 to make up for the lack of a main campaign. In this scenario I am not just controlling the Scharnhorst but also a taskforce of Destroyers, which in the actual battle did not come to the Scharnhorst's aid if I recall. I was able to bring them between us and they got intot a torpedo melee with the Sheffield, Belfast and Norfolk and after Scharnhorst had already battered them they eventually were sunk with still many of my DDs remaining (albeit some seriously damaged) I thought that be taking out three cruisers I could possibly win this battle, ...would this be the case? this part ends at where my DDs have run into the british forces of the Duke of York and a number of cruisers and destroyers.... Scharnhorst is too far north to help the ailing destroyers, but is speeding south to hopefully sunk some more british ships. The conclusion is in part 2.
