This week on Sunday Longplay, we're covering a new update and accompanying piece of DLC for Tetris 99 on the Nintendo Switch. As part of this new addition to the game, players can now play offline against 98 CPU players, or play in solo Marathon mode for a high score. I'll do a CPU battle later on just to show that off, but for now, let's go for a high score in a Marathon! There are two ways to play Marathon mode: you can either play until 150 lines or 999 lines. Since I already did a 150-line Marathon video in Puyo Puyo Tetris a while ago, I'll be playing in 999-line mode this time. You can adjust your difficulty level from 1 to 15 in 150-line play, but 999-line play is defaulted in difficulty, which is OK, because in the last half of 999 Lines mode, the action is just as fast as level 15 of 150 Lines mode, and in the last quarter it gets even slightly faster still, almost to Tetris: The Grand Master levels of speed! The game saves both your fastest completion time and highest score, but really I just wanted to finish it.
