This is a playthrough using Dr.WIZ in the Arcade game Fighters' Impact A. Read on below for more information... Dr. WIZ appears as a possible mid-boss or penultimate boss, and he is an immediate playable character in this version of the game. NOTE: Continues were used in this playthrough. Unwanted losses are cut out to save time and keep the video file size to a minimum. ===== ABOUT DR. WIZ ===== Dr. WIZ is a "mirror match" character, meaning that he clones the opponent for gameplay. He does this by "turning" into the opponent, as well as warping the stage into a psychedelic dreamscape. ===== GAMEPLAY ===== As he is a mirror match character, Dr. WIZ is only a different character by slot. He does not have any moves of his own. When he clones the opponent, the cloned character is given a greyscale colour palette. His fighting style is Illusion. ===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ===== ---- He works via the same concept as Kuroko in Samurai Shodown 3, being entirely a Mirror Match character that clones the opponent. Another example is Shadow from Doomsday Warrior. ---- His character design is of the "mad scientist/doctor" stereotype. ---- In a Dr. WIZ vs Dr. WIZ mirror match, a random character is selected each for 1P and 2P. ===== OTHER INFORMATION ===== ---- His Stage 4 mid-boss is Hoi Hoi; his Stage 8 penultimate boss is Raoul; and his Final Stage boss is Barazock. ---- As he is a playable character in this version of the game, when you play as him in single-player mode he warps the backgrounds for each match of course, however all but two of the stages will play the normal musics instead of the special "warped stage music" (named "Kyouei"). The only stages which plays the Kyouei theme are Stages 4 and 8, as these stages are of the mid-boss and penultimate boss respectively. ===== ABOUT REVISION A ===== Revision 'A' is an upgrade of the original Arcade game... it is basically the 'Champion Edition' of Fighters' Impact. The most significant change is that all five bosses (including Dr.WIZ) are now made playable characters. Other changes include gameplay tweaks - such as the removal of the custom combo system; the ability to escape throws; a counter-attack mechanic; and the removal of the universal dash-back "backflip" and "cartwheel" movements (besides Faraha). There are also new colour palettes for the characters and stage backgrounds, and the lifebar health colour is now blue instead of green. ===== ABOUT FIGHTERS' IMPACT ===== Fighter's Impact is a somewhat slow-paced technical fighting game. It's gameplay is focused on tactics, making you think about your next move, stringing your own combos together and blocking correctly. On the lifebar, under the character's name, there is a light-up counter that lights up and extends the higher you string moves together - however as mentioned earlier, this mechanic was removed in Revision 'A' of the game. For most of the regular characters you get to choose between 3 fighting styles/modes for them, complete with a different costume for each style. Despite some martial art styles being shared (such as Karate), there are some minor differences between the different characters using the same fighting style. The bosses do not have any sub styles to choose from, instead most of them use enhanced versions of existing styles. Faraha is the only character to use her own unique fighting style. The game features an atmospheric relaxing soundtrack, which usually closely matches the ambiance of the stage you're on. This is also one of those fighting games where in single-player mode, certain soundtracks carry over (continue playing) for multiple matches.
