Buenek / Коледарски танц - Буенек

This video shows Bulgarian Fold Dance Group during Traditional Christmas Concert at Balboa Park in San Diego. This is traditional Bulgarian chanting which is usually passed on from one generation to the other and it is only in oral/verbal form. It is said in native Bulgarian language by a men, who is leading a group of other men who are supposed to repeat the last sentence of the chanting. It is a wish for health, prosperity and happiness. After the chanting is done, the man performs traditional dance called ”Buenek“ with specific foot work. Rest of the group is in the background. The main dancer in this video is Vladimir Baltadzhiev, who is the artistic leader and folk dance teacher at Vasil Levski Cultural Foundation.
