Super Shanghai Dragon's Eye - Quest - 75.200 pts 1CC No deadlocks

This replay shows a simple All Clear run with no mistakes, rather than focusing on score (see why below). Super Shanghai Dragon's Eye, an arcade port of 1990's Shanghai II by Activision, is a regular shanghai game that I honestly found to be goofy, hence possible source of entertainment. What makes it funny, or funnier than it should, are: the variety of (animated) tiles used through all game modes, the Engrish spread everywhere, some special cutscenes (e.g. Quest Round 4). The game is presented with 3 modes: 1) Quest - a storyline where Satan takes the staff of greek mythology god Mercury, seals it in stone and smashes it, turning Zeus and Athene into mortals; your task as Zeus and Athene is to recover the stone fragments as well as saving people, animals, objects along your way, then defeat Satan himself. This game is made of 6 Rounds of increasing difficulty. The tiles used show mythological gods, fantasy creatures, combat tools, etc. 2) Paradise - 6 Stages of 2 stacks of tiles each (=12 actual stages), where you challenge some ladies who, as obviously expected, are going to give you a bit of Showtime if you win. No NSFW nudes, but close. The tiles used show cards symbols, arrows, shapes, letters and numbers, etc. 3) Advanced - 12 stages of Shanghai in its pure form, with stacks resembling the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac (they try their best to look like them). A dragon greets you with fire breaths after you win. The tiles used are the classic mahjong/shanghai tiles with kanji, bamboo numbers, winds, seasons, etc. Mechanics Pretty much like basic Shanghai, so you can pick 2 matching tiles if they have one free side between left and right, and no tiles above them. Some matches can randomly grant you more time, more Helps, or 1000 pts. In Quest, specific tiles hide the stone fragment (useless to know since you need to clear the whole stack anyway). Always in Quest, you will win 3 items along the way: Holy water, after Round 1; Crystal ball, after Round 3; Poseidon's trident after Round 5; all items can be used just once for game. The Holy water restores time if you run out of it. The Crystal ball will activate either on Round 4 or 5, when matching the barrels or the vases, bringing you the aid of a little fairy that tells where the matching tile is on screen after you pick one. Poseidon's trident restarts the round (but not timer) if you put yourself in a deadlock, hence mo moves left. Scoring on Quest mode For the first 3 rounds, every match is worth 600 pts, then just 100 pts for the last 3 rounds. 1000 pts can come randomly from matched tiles. That's about it. What makes the real difference in score between 1CC runs, is just whether or not (and when) you use Poseidon's trident on Round 6, and how many 1000 pts bonuses you get. As this replay has no deadlocks, the final score is actually quite low for 1CC standards. I have done in fact another replay of 85600 pts in a different romset, which I'm not showing because of personal choice and the graphic glitches of the romset. So yes, to get a good score you have to lose once on final round on purpose. Bugs/glitches The credits don't look good.
