Since Albea's death, things between Grendel and me have taken a drastic turn. Grendel's behavioral inconsistencies have left nothing but bitter taste and silence. But one night, I got a most unexpected call from him. He was flustered, at the end of his nerves. He made no sense. And yet I just knew I had to go there. And this is what set in motion the machinations of my inexorable, dark fate. But I won't linger passively, waiting to be engulfed by the unbridled waves of circumstances. I must find my way in solitude through this dark labyrinth strewn with memorabilia left behind by my two old friends clearly attesting to his escalating derangement and her fever pitch paranoiac fear. Am I wrong to trust the words of mad friends? Further down the spiral and the police are on my tail. I'm persecuting truth while justice is persecuting me. But that's not all. I sense someone...or perhaps something... an unearthly presence; all-pervasive, keeping an uncanny vigil over me. Most bizarre is that this freakish entity is now my trusty fount of light guiding me through this labyrinth of madness. Or am I the one who's mad to put my trust in such things? With reason and peace of mind being nothing but comfortable memories of the past, I now believe that the way down is the only way out.
