Galactic Arms Race

Galactic Arms Race is not properly a game, but a scientific experiment. Y'see, what the guys from the University of Florida have done is create a framework for a game to show that procedural weapons and item creation can be a viable addition to mainstream gaming. The way it works is this: you log in, you get a ship. Each ship has 3 gunports, and as you go around blowing stuff up, the enemies will drop new guns. Now, if you like the gun, you can use it as soon as you pick it up, but if you don't, you can take it back to base and sell it. The guns, however, are always different. Each of them is procedurally generated - the game keeps track of what gun patterns are created, and how many times people use each gun pattern, and how much killing they do, or if they're sold rapidly, and the more valuable gun patterns are weighed more heavily when a new gun is generated, while the crappy patterns are slowly discontinued.
