Teeth-Rattling, Off-Road 1970s Dune Buggy Racing - The Original Georgia Traveler WSB-TV {Racing}

Dune Buggies are a true American vehicle. In Cocoa Beach, Florida they're an obsession. Born in California in the early 1960s, by 1978 they were everywhere. In Florida, if there was sand, there were beach buggies … and people were racing them. The tracks weren't much more than a rugged collection of ruts, potholes and ditches. The races were as wild and ragged as the tracks. The folks behind the wheel did it for the excitement and the thrill of winning. Every week they were getting their fix of teeth-rattling, off-road, dune buggy racing. This story aired on WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News in 1978.
