SITUATION-- You are sitting in the cockpit of your Su-33, watching the sun rise over the Black Sea. The siege of Sevastapol is entering its 47th day and things are getting desperate. Both sides have attritioned their air forces and are now reduced to minor raids. After the hit on the munitions dump and the lack of spare parts, we are reduced to one aircraft for intercept. Hopefully the night supply run will bring in more missiles and spare parts. We are cannibalizing aircraft as it is. The siren sounds and you toss the cup of cold tea out onto the tarmac as the ground crew cranks up the engines with the crash carts. The ground controller tells you that a MiG-25 is inbound from the northwest. Probably on a recon mission. So begins the long day.
