XCar Experimental Racing - Car Select

Xcar Experimental Racing is a racing simulation game developed by Bad Dog, plublished by Bethesda Softworks LLC, and released in 1997. Players take control of one of the game's 16 cars, and modify every aspect of the car including (engine, brakes, suspension, and custom paint scheme), and put it to the test against 7 other opponents, as you race your way through 10 circuits, including real-world and fantasy, in an effort to win the championship. Tracks range from 'Mid-Ohio' to a Mayan temple and downtown Seattle. Cars can (and, at times, need to) be tweaked, tuned, and sometimes completely over-hauled to improve the various components that make up the car. Unfortunately, so much time was put into the game "equivelant to 35 man-years of work," and Xcar Experimental Racing remains criminally underrated, and unheard of by many. Fun facts: -There are two versions of the game. The first version was packaged in a standard, "rectangle-shaped" box. The second version was packaged in an "x-shaped" box.The second version contained a few sub-menu layout differences, and also included a few more cars and tracks. -Xcar Experimental Racing, at the time, used state-of-the-art software to bring the player the most realistic racing experience, this included: rain, wind, heat, among other factors that affects your car. -Xcar Experimental Racing was a whopping 27mb! (This was quite a bit back in 1997). -Xcar Experimental Racing Demo was 7 mb. -Xcar Experimental Racing is an MS-DOS game. -The graphics can be rendered in software or accelerated in 3Dfx. -The game used to have its own website, but has since been taken down. -Xcar Experimental Racing is a product of Bethesda Softworks LLC, (now just known as Bethesda). All credits goes to them.    • Racing Game Classic: XCar From Bethes...   - Check out this old news segment video, recovered by John Lee, one of Xcar's developers.
