2024 British Open Championship Golf Special Edition at Royal Troon by LookingGlass Technologies 1997

This is the actual gameplay of British Open Championship Golf Special Edition featuring the Royal Troon golf course in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland. This is the edition developed by LookingGlass Technologies and distributed by Softkey (The Learning Company). The game is difficult to run properly, I'm am running this in Windows 95 with VirtualBox. Good luck finding a configuration that works! While the emulation was not perfect for the sound, the game played fine when compared to my old 486 that was just not fast enough visually for smooth graphics. The key to smooth play in a virtual OS was the ability to match the speed of the swing meter to real hardware. This game had a very advanced look and feel for 1997, especially impressive were the 3d view and commentary. I feel the worst part is it's hard to hit a straight shot due to the slight acceleration of the meter at the very bottom of the swing. I think more practice would produce improved gameplay, otherwise, an impressive game that I would rate a solid 8 for the year 1997.
