The Tetris #1 - 178260 pts (SuperLite 1500 Series PS1)

Playing "SuperLite 1500 Series: The Tetris" for PS1! My Tetris playlist:    • smbhax's Tetris adventures!   This is my second-favorite Tetris game, after the GameBoy original. Yeah, The Tetris' graphics are a little funky, the soundtrack eclectic, and the sound effects something of a mixed bag, but you know, the original Tetris had its rough spots, too (except for the music; that original Russian-style score is absolutely iconic and should really be available in every Tetris game!). (Come to think of it, the music in The Tetris kind of reminds me of a simpler version of the music in the SuperLite 2000 Series PS2 game, "ZOOO" (aka "Zoo Keeper"):    • (PS2 60fps) SuperLite 2000 Series: ZO...   ) The Tetris does two things I really appreciate: it sticks to the original Tetris rules--not putting in the various crutches and bells and whistles that have watered the game down since then : P--and it doesn't throw piece-or-screen-flashing effects at your eyeballs. (Even the NES version did that; for instance, when you scored a tetris the whole block chunk would flash.) Plus, crucially, the control and gameplay are crisp, and the timing is spot-on. So, its presentation may be underwhelming, but after a handful of plays, The Tetris really endeared itself to me, and has now taken up what will be--for the foreseeable future are least--more or less permanent residence in my Japanese PS2's disc drive. : D Recording: PS2 240p component to OSSC 4x 960p to Framemeister bordered 1080p to Elgato HD60 (Since getting my US and Japanese PS2s out this weekend, together with the NEOGEO "Omega" I now have three consoles competing for the single component-in on my component distribution amplifier (which multiplies the signal, sending one copy to one OSSC for viewing at 5x cropped 1080p on my 1080p monitor, and another copy to the Framemeister for recording), so I have to swap the five component plugs each time I switch from one console to another. So, I've ordered a Shinybow 4x2 "matrix" component switcher, which will let me have up to four component inputs plugged in at once, swappable in any combination to two component outputs. Hopefully the signal is as clear as what I get from the CE Labs distribution amplifier; in any case, it will be a lot easier to switch between consoles for gameplay and recording, yay! That's due to arrive on Monday.)
