Malibu Beach Volleyball Longplay (Game Boy Game) - Malibu Beach Volleyball for the Game Boy had the potential to be a little gem in the GB library, but it quickly faded into obscurity for good reasons. Not only does the game fall short due to its brevity, requiring players to defeat only three teams to claim the gold, but it's also astonishingly easy, offering minimal replay value. The game's simplicity becomes apparent when you realize that there's no incentive to employ special shots, spike serves, or blocking maneuvers. Basic techniques like standard serving, reception, and a well-timed spike are more than sufficient to conquer your opponents. After just a brief practice session, you'll find that the game loses all appeal, and you eagerly await the tournament's conclusion. In my experience, there was never a sense of challenge or danger. In the final game, I even allowed my opponents to score a few points intentionally to see if they could stage a comeback, but to no avail. They don't gain confidence or improve their abilities in the slightest. Once you resume competitive play, it's game over for them. Despite its shortcomings, the game does have some redeeming qualities. It's incredibly easy to pick up and play, with a catchy tune that adds to its charm. However, the disappointment lies in the fact that mastery isn't required to win. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango, and in this case, I danced solo. #retrogamingloft #malibubeachvolleyballlongplay #malibubeachvolleyballgameboy
