Почему я не поняла одно из лучших выступлений Silk Way Star? Michelle Joseph – «Altan Bogdiin Shil»
Why Didn’t I Understand One of the Best Performances on Silk Way Star? My Mind Gets It — My Ears Don’t. Listen, I’m really worried that my opinion about the performance of the #SilkWayStar contestant from Mongolia might be misunderstood. Let me clarify — mostly for myself: this was one of the best performances of the episode. She and Saro were the most memorable and successful! I’m not in any way downplaying the complexity of this folk piece — it’s the most challenging one of the entire show, and Michelle is absolutely one of the favorites of the competition for all the right reasons. I just focused on the technique, because in the original version I heard a different vocal delivery. At the same time, I was genuinely impressed by the original recording — it’s breathtaking, gives you chills all over, and I heard something entirely different there, maybe that’s what I subconsciously expected. Michelle has a professional musical education, and I’m not an expert in their tradition — I was guided only by the original performance. Still, my impression turned out to be completely different. I stand by my — perhaps unqualified — opinion. The only thing I can truly rely on, and have always trusted, is my ear. I absolutely don’t want, God forbid, to offend her as a performer. I have no doubt about her talent, and I don’t want my words to make anyone else doubt it either. I sincerely apologize if I might have hurt her feelings in any way. In this competition, I care the least about the competition itself — I care about the artists, their creativity, and I never want to offend any of them, especially Michelle. I hope this is clear in the video — I apologized in advance and shared these thoughts, but I just wanted to emphasize this point once again.
