SHADOW BLASTERS (Shiten Myooh) - for Sega Genesis - Complete Playthrough

5th Longplay - Shadow Blasters! The evil god Ashura has unleashed hordes of monsters and demons onto Earth, hoping to take control of the planet as well as the hearts of men. The good god Hyperion has recruited four of Earth's most powerful warriors and assembled them into a team to fight the encroaching darkness and defeat Ashura: the ninja warriors named Horatio and Tiffany, a Buddhist fighting monk named Marco , and a fencer named Leo. With powers bestowed from Hyperion, they hunt down Ashura's demon across time, past, present, and future. I used to like playing this game with my brothers when we were younger. We can play one or two players simultaneously. We have the choice of 4 characters, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Each character has 10 life points, and once they're depleted, they are gone. As you defeat enemies, they will leave emblem of different colors. White emblem increases your attack power, identified by the P- bar on the main screen Red emblem increases your speed ( up to 4 times) Blue emblem increases the height of your jump ability ( up to 4 times) Gold emblem replenishes Life gauge by 1 point. Silver emblem completely fills your Life gauge. From the four available characters, Horatio and Tiffany are weaker physically, but their attacks are more specialized, that is most enemy attacks takes away 2 hit points from their total life of 10. Horatio's powered up Fire Dragon attack are the strongest, while Tiffany's powered up Tornado attack homes towards enemies. Marco and Leo are stronger physically, that is most enemy hits only take off 1 life point. However, their attacks are slightly weaker. and slower. What's innovative with this game is that by pausing the game, at anytime you can switch to one of any of the four characters. It does stop the action though. But overall the game plays like a fun 2 player adventure game, where you slowly build your characters up, defeating stages after stages, an underworld stage, an Asian heavenly skies stage, before finally passing your powers back to Hyprion for a final showdown with Ashura. The graphics is not super great, and the controls can be a bit clunky, but overall the game is fun. And I dig the music, composed by Kim Song Dong. For 20 bucks at the time, it was fun and well worth it.
