A playthrough of Sega's 2011 arcade fishing game for PCs running Windows, Sega Bass Fishing. It is a patched and updated version of the original PC release, developed by Sega AM1 and published by Sega in 2001. The video was recorded using Shadowplay at 720p60. Does anybody else remember what an insane graphic showcase this was when it first came out on the Dreamcast? Who would ever picture a fishing game as a tech showpiece? It still looks pretty awesome considering it's a pretty straight port of an arcade game from 1997. Granted, it was running on Sega's powerful Model 3 hardware, but this doesn't look twenty years old. At least I don't think so. And it's just as fun as it is fun to look at. Everything is super-simple, easily digestible - mainly because the core mechanics were intended to hook you (har har) as quickly as possibly to get your coins. The original mode did give the home versions a surprisingly strong pair of legs, though, to a game that was designed to last ten minutes. It gives you a brand new lake with different fishing spots, a ladder of unlocks to work your way through (including the fabled Sonic lure that I use during the last tournament), and a proper ending. And that announcer's ridiculous voice! I don't think I'll ever be able to forget him yelling, "It's HUUUUUUUUUGE!" The intro is also pretty hilariously over-dramatic, given the subject matter.
