1980 Nuclear War Sim | Missile Command

'40 Years Ago' is a series of videos of games that were released 40 years ago. Atari released 'Missile Command' to arcades in July 1980. Inspired by cold war ballistic nuclear missile simulations, this game tapped into the paranoia that occupied the minds of people in this era. You control a cursor with a trackball, and shoot down incoming missiles to protect the cities from nuclear annihilation. The theme is grim, but the game is a lot of fun.
