Ristar 2 Fangame (update #001) : Sequel Prototype In Progress!

Ristar, where you at? Ristar was my first Game Gear game and it wasn't until many years later that I was able to play the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version - I immediately fell in love with both. He's been suspiciously absent since his debut, other than some minor one-off cameos (our boy deserves better than being a capsule toy stuck in a vending machine or spending his days waving race flags). This project is a labor of love I've done in my free time, exploring the concept of Ristar as a modernized 2.5d platformer. I went with the original gameplay design and took a whole bunch of liberties to make it feel just a touch more modern, iterating until I've landed on what you see in this video. Be warned though - there's currently a whole laundry list of things that still need to be fixed and a few interesting gameplay mechanics I didn't have time to implement before recording this video. Where can I download this? Really sorry, I'm unable to offer a downloadable demo at this time! Even though this features original content (programming/art/etc.) and is a fan project with no means of monetary gain, Ristar is still property of Sega. If at any point I'm able to offer a demo, I'll be sure to update, so keep every single one of your eyes peeled! What engine/software did you use? Engine is Unity, and for the art, a combination of Maya/Zbrush/Substance Painter/Photoshop. SFX are a mish mash of CC0 samples I've found online and original clips I've recorded, most edited in Reaper and/or Audacity And the music? I would absolutely love to! I'm super eager to jump in and start building out the rest of Ristar's world (I have some fun ideas for Planet Sonata), but because this is a fan project that I can focus on only in my spare time, updates from here on out will be very, very slow. Life 'sponsibilities and all, you know? Quite obvious, but I'd LOVE to collaborate with Sega on a reimagining of their classic hero who just hasn't gotten the attention he deserves!
