This is the sixth game in the Touhou series, and the first for Windows. He surpassed the previous games for the PC-98 both graphically and musically, and was the first to acquire a substantial fanbase in the West. The story, passed by conversations between characters during interludes of action is as follows: The land of Gensokyo (where all the Touhou games take place) was surrounded by a red mist, and its inhabitants can no longer see the sun. As the miko Reimu Hakurei or mage Marisa Kirisame, the player goes in search of the source of the mist, a mysterious figure called Scarlet Devil.
