I hope you enjoy this song :). СҮҮ ӨРГӨХ (Milk Sprinkling) "Сүү өргөх" or "дээж өргөх" means to toss a spoonful of milk up in the air. Milk is the first thing we taste when we come to this world in that sense it is the source of life. It holds such a special place in Mongolian life that it is used in many sacred rituals rooted deep in Mongolian history and culture. Сүү өргөх is performed by married women (mothers), it’s the first thing they do in the morning after making milk tea. While they sprinkle milk in the air they send good thoughts to their loved ones and to nature. Good thoughts are always followed by good energy. (Energy follows thought.) АРГАЛ The original lyrics says: Аргалын цогонд цайгаа бүлээлж Warming tea on the embers of dung. Аргал means dry cow dung. It might sound offensive to you, but аргал is an essential part of Mongolian herders’ lives. It’s a natural fuel that is burned to cook and keep ger toasty warm in cold seasons. A completely dry cow dung can smell so pleasant like a burning grass which even has a calming and healing effect. The fragrance of dry cow dung activates a group of neurons in the brain that contributes to the feelings of happiness. Cow manure is also known for its anti-bacterial properties, it is one of the best disinfectant. According to research Mongolian livestock consume approximately 500-600 types of plants and 70-80% of them are herbs. So in Mongolia АРГАЛ is considered as sacred. Also we have different names of manure for each five livestock. Аргал: cow and camel dung Хоргол: sheep and goat dung Хомоол: horse dung "билээ" is a verb in the past tense. It means was/were. The lyrics isn't translated in the past tense "My mother is my most treasured goddess", because it also means that his mother is still his most treasured goddess and always will be.
